What is Boat Shared Ownership?
This is a way to own a part (normally 8% or 4 weeks use per year) of
a boat to enable you to enjoy spending time on your own boat but sharing
the initial purchase price and annual running costs. The boat is managed
for you so that you spend your time cruising rather than on administration
and maintenance.

Your Share
There are generally 12 owners in a boat syndicate, each of whom purchase
1/12th or 8% share. A 1/12th or 8% shareholding entitles the owner
to use their boat for 4 weeks a year for the life of the boat.
The Syndicate decide what happens with their boat. To do this an AGM is held for each boat syndicate at a central location each year. The Boat Management Company (ABC Boat Management) organise this for the syndicate and any decisions about the boat maintenance or enhancements, start location and costs are voted on at the AGM.
At this meeting owners also draw their four weeks - under our scheme this is a week in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Syndicate boat members can swap weeks with other owners. Unused weeks are made available for fellow syndicate owners to use. A fortnight is set aside each year where the annual maintenance work is carried out by the boatyard where it is based.
Running costs are divided between owners each paying in proportion to their share ownership (normally 1/12th or 8%). Owners are charged a management fee for the administration of their syndicate and boat so all they have to do is enjoy using it.
If you are an inexperienced boater we can arrange a RYA helmsman course.
We can offer a resale service if you decide to sell your share.
